With Love From Taiwan!
In October 2012, Vivian Wenli Lin traveled to Taiwan to conduct Voices of Women Media’s first international project, With Love From Taiwan! – a series of multimedia workshops for foreign spouses that have married into Taiwanese families. The phenomenon of foreign brides into Taiwan has created communities of new immigrants from Southeast Asia and mainland China. For Vivian, who is of Taiwanese descent, this was the first time for her to live and work within her parent’s native land. By working with these five women, who openly shared stories of their lives of immigrating to Taiwan, Vivian was able to see and concurrently experience through their eyes what it was like to become Taiwanese. The resulting works are video and photographic keepsakes about their brave new lives and their longing for their homelands.
