Om Spinazie te Stoven
Vergeten Eten Recipe:
Ingredients:
2 apples - 1.09, white wine - 1.49, white wine vinegar (sour unripe grape juice) - 1.09, butter, sugar, ginger, spinach - 3.39
7.06 euros excl. ginger, sugar, butter already in my kitchen
Process:
Peel and remove apple cores. Cut into small pieces.
Wash and boil spinach:
Ground ginger. (I grated the ginger. Is that the same?)
Saute apples with butter:
Add a few swirls of white wine:
Add boiled spinach! WEIRD.
At this point I had no idea what the dish was supposed to look like. It made sense to just mash it all together a la stamppot. This is when I added only 1 tbsp of the vinegar instead of two. The vinegar was too strong!
This was tasting very contradictory. And also looking pretty gnarly too. I added some white sugar and some more butter and a bit of salt to try to improve it.
The recipe says to serve in platters or to bake as cookies or fry with butter?!
It looked like creamed spinach but tasted like a creamy apple sauce. A good disguise to make kids eat their vegetables. It tasted pretty good. Sweet spinach.
The next morning we tried to "fry" the spinach in butter. It gave the spinach a nicer texture. I think that the spinach needs to be squeezed of the liquids first before frying or baking. Our "fried" apple spinach was very good for breakfast.
Overall a very easy recipe to make. It tastes better than it looks.
